How Long Does a Hydrafacial Last & How Often Should You Have One?

A Hydrafacial is a facial treatment that cleanses your skin and then nourishes it. It uses suction technology to pull all kinds of impurities out of your pores. This can be a somewhat comfortable process, but then the skin is rejuvenated and refreshed using creams and serums at the end of the treatment.

A hydrafacial treatment should make your skin glow with the radiance and youthfulness. It should give your skin a smoother look and smaller pores that are less visible. It’s also very versatile, as it can be used on any skin type.

It’s not dangerous for women who are breastfeeding or pregnant coming since there’s no harmful chemicals used in this process. A hydrafacial is considered a noninvasive skincare treatment.

People who have undergone a hydrafacial have reported that their skin looks more even, with a unified tone and a smoother, less bumpy texture. They also notice that wrinkles and fine lines have faded after the treatment.

This rejuvenating skincare process is even good for acne, as it eliminates blackheads and reduces their appearance where it can’t get rid of them. The end result is skin that is vibrant and beautiful, with fewer visible flaws.

How to Prepare for a Hydrafacial

Before you have a hydrafacial done, what kind of preparation should you do? The specialists at the treatment facility you will be visiting will give you a list of guidelines, and they may look something like this:

  • Avoid exfoliating treatments for the area of the body that will be treated. This includes enzymes and glycolic acid.
  • Do not use Retin-A of any kind for up to 48 hours before the treatment.
  • You should not use depilatories or wax your face at all for up to 48 hours before the process.
  • Chemical peels and chemical resurfacing should be avoided as well. You should stop these for a full two weeks ahead of your treatment.
  • No Isotretinoin products should be use for a full six months preceding the treatment. If you feel you have to use one of these products, then talk to your clinician first, as exceptions may be made on a case-by-case basis.
  • You will want to avoid using any OTC acne medications as well, with a window of 48 hours between your last use and the hydrafacial treatment.
  • You will need to stay away from Botox injections for a minimum of two weeks before the treatment. You can have Botox treatment done following the hydrafacial, though.
  • You should also stay away from tanning beds and severe sun exposure for a minimum of 72 hours before you go for treatment.
  • Finally, avoid shaving your face at all on the day you are having the hydrafacial done.

How Long Does a Hydrafacial Take?

This is a multi-step process that will need to be performed by an experienced clinician, but it only takes about 30 minutes.

The technician will start by exfoliating your skin. This helps clear where the dead skin cells. You should come and do cleaning to be used to take the dead skin cells and other debris away from the area to be treated.

This will be followed with an acid peel, which sounds really awful but is not irritating to the skin at all. A combination of salicylic and glycolic acid is used to hydrate your skin and penetrate down through the pores. It loosens the debris out from inside the pores and makes it easier to suction that out in the next step.

The vacuum wand is painless and pulls the stuff out of your pores that you don’t want there. The final step is a vortex fusion that treats the skin with a rejuvenating serum and helps make the skin smoother and more elastic.

How Long Does a Hydrafacial Last?

The results of this facial treatment will vary based on a few factors, like your skin type and how you care for your skin. In most cases those who have had a hydrafacial done can expect the results to last them for at least 7 days.

That’s the minimum expected timeframe, and many people see their treatments last much longer than that. You can have a follow-up treatment done, once you notice that the results of the hydrafacial are beginning to dissipate.

How Long Does Redness Last after Hydrafacial

The suction and acid peel can be kind of rough on your skin, and they can cause redness for a while. Your skin should not feel irritated or painful, though it can be tender. The redness should disappear in about 72 hours, however, especially if you are taking care of your skin.

Your skin will be really sensitive and be prone to damage, since it has just undergone an extensive cleansing and exfoliating treatment. It takes a little time for the redness to disappear and the tenderness to go away.

What to Do after Hydrafacial

It’s important to take good care of your skin following your hydrafacial. It will be extra tender and will need to be treated gently to avoid irritation, burning, and damage.

Your aesthetician performing the procedure will likely give you a list of things you need to do after the treatment to avoid skin damage and to reduce the risk of irritation or pain.

The aesthetician will tell you to avoid sunlight as much as possible for the next 72 hours. This is your recovery window, and sunlight can burn your skin more easily immediately following the process.

~Try to cover up as much as possible, stay out of the sun when you can, and use sunscreen if you must be outdoors, even in overcast weather.

You should be able to continue with your regular skincare routine after the treatment. In most cases, no changes will have to be made to your skincare regimen, but the technician will let you know if there are special considerations in your situation and for your skin.

How Often Should You Get a Hydrafacial?

When the hydrafacial starts to fade, you can see about getting a follow up treatment. You can have this facial procedure done as often as you like, and there are no risks associated with having a hydrafacial done too often in your life.

This is an excellent way to keep your skin looking youthful and vibrant and to maintain clean pores that are not clogged with gunk.

A lot of the skincare problems you may face could be fixed by having this treatment done on a regular basis.

Be sure to talk to your hydrafacial technician about how frequently you should have it done to maintain beautiful, radiant skin. If you want to look your best all the time, you will want to have HydraFacial done regularly. It does such a great job of maintaining beautiful skin, so you don’t have to spend as much time and money on your skincare routine.

How Often Can You Get a Hydrafacial?

This is a different question and relates to the safety of the procedure and how much time you should put between each treatment.

While the HydraFacial could start to fade in as little as a week, it usually lasts longer than that. You should wait at least one week before you have another one done, though. This gives your skin time to recover.

While the process can be a little rough on your skin, you can recover almost entirely in about 72 hours. However, there may still be minor recovery going on with your skin at a cellular level, and you want to give your skin adequate time to build itself back up.

This is a really gentle process, so there is no down time at all. You can go about your day as normal once you step out of the clinic. You just need to give your skin a little space between session so that it can fully recover.

Once again, your technician will advise you about what kind of space you need to leave between sessions and how often you should have the treatment done. There are a number of factors that tie into how frequently you could and should have a hydrafacial.

Your skin type will be one of the most important factors, as well as your age, the condition of your skin, and how you care for your skin.

Don’t feel that you need to rush back in for another session as soon as possible after the hydrafacial. If you take good care of your skin, the results from the initial visit can last for a long time. You may not need another HydraFacial done for months because of how long-lasting the benefits are for you.

Not everyone gets the same results, because the difference this treatment can make in your skin and your appearance will depend on the condition of your skin. If you do a good job of taking care of your skin and your pores are relatively clean, you may not notice a big difference after the treatment.

You can always wait for the redness to go away and see the results for yourself to determine if it’s worth it to have the treatment done again.
